ALL CEYLON WOMEN’S BUDDHIST CONGRESS

ACWBC has undertaken numerous Programmes and Projects for the benefit of Buddhist women from its inception namely:

• Sandya home for elders (Non-paying).
• Pubudu home for special Children & Women (Handicapped).
• Hospice.
• Suramya home for elders (paying) - A home to provide 'a home away from home' for women who wished to live independently in the evening of their lives.
• Tharuni hostel for working girls and school leavers who come to Colombo from remote areas of Sri Lanka.
• Self-employment and Skills Development Projects for low-income and less-privileged women and girls. Project activities consisted of four main sections.
  • Secretarial Training including IT.
  • Catering Training for girls (bakery project).
  • Handloom Weaving and Handicrafts.
  • Home Gardening (Agriculture).
